Hope and Harry's Adult Kids

Tom MacDonald is the oldest of Hope's three adult children. He is a professional musician, guitarist, songwriter, and singer. He has produced several albums, one of which sells at a premium in Japan. By day, he is a carpenter, construction worker, and all-around generous friend. He is well-traveled and manages to take long vacations around the world whenever he can.

Dan MacDonald is the author of the Study Guide for Hope's book on prayer. He spent five years on Young Life Staff, nine years as a high school teacher and coach, taught classes for seven years for the Billy Graham Association, served as a chaplain with the Franciscan Health System for nine years, and spent a total of sixteen years in pastoral ministry. He loves to hike and enjoys the beauty of the outdoors.

Deborah MacDonald Gronholz is the baby of the family and mentioned in the first chapter of Hope’s book. She has been a professional artist for an international greeting card company, an actress in a touring children’s theatre troupe, and is currently an Art teacher at Kentwood High School where she was voted by the students as “The Heart of Kentwood” in 2022. Debbie and her husband, Marc, have served in ministry for over 40 years.

Hope's adult children: Tom, Debbie, and Dan. Each have made their own unique contributions in service to others. All three consider their parents' travels to have been exceptionally enriching experiences for them. Stories about their time in Brazil abound at family gatherings.
